Frequently Asked Questions – Minibus & Van Rentals
As an experienced rental company there are a number of questions we are frequently asked.
Should you have questions we’d recommend checking the list below and you may find the answer you’re looking for.
What paperwork do I need to provide?
Before hiring we will need to see the card part of your driving licenceas well as either a DVLA check code (which can be generated on the DVLA website) or your National Insurance number. This will allow us access to the DVLA database where details of driving entitlement and offences are now held.
Do age restrictions apply?
Yes. We cannot provide vehicles for anyone younger than 21 or over the age of 75. However, there are exceptions so please call for more detail. For mini-bus hire drivers must be between 25 and 70 years of age.
Are vehicles full of fuel?
Yes. All our vehicles are hired full of fuel, customers are asked to return the vehicle full of fuel or alternatively we can fill it up on site and deduct the cost from the rental deposit.
What is the minimum hire period?
We can hire for anything from one week to 12 months. Our ‘rate’ covers a 24-hour period. e.g., pick-up 9am, return 9am.
How many drivers can I have?
Multiple drivers can be included on the rental agreement; an additional driver charge is added, the charge depends on vehicle group booked.
Can I take a vehicle abroad?
Yes. Our vehicles can be taken out of the UK. All European hire must be pre-booked as supplementary insurance and breakdown cover needs to be arranged in advance.
What do I do in the event of a breakdown?
In the unlikely event that you require roadside assistanceyou are covered by our national breakdown service TTS360. For international travel you will need to arrange additional coverage.
Is there an excess mileage charge?
Generally, no, but it can apply in certain circumstances. Please call the office if you are planning a long journey
Do you deliver and collect?
Delivery and collection in the local area to our main office are free of charge depending on a minimum duration of hire of one month. We are happy to deliver and collect further afield for a small charge.
Do I have to pay a deposit?
Yes. We ask for a £250 deposit on all hires. This is returned on safe return of the vehicle.
What insurance is required?
The Hirer shall be responsible for obtaining all prudent comprehensive insurance cover, including third party liability and cover against loss or damage to the Vehicle.
Can I Drive a Minibus on a Car Licence?
The answer is yes!
With that in mind our CanDrive range of minibuses have been specifically designed to allow drivers operating within the Educational or Voluntary sector who hold an ordinary car licence to drive the minibus without the need for a D1 driving licence.
